    September EVENTS_World War IIWorld War II – 1st September, 2016

    World War II was a global war that lasted from 1939 to 1945, which involved the vast majority of the world’s nations, which formed into two military alliances: The Allies and the Axis. The Children will be learning about the history of World War II, and will be making their own 3D structures of shelters, aeroplanes and tanks. They will also be designing their own tea stained postcards and letters to send home.

     

    September EVENTS_Start of The Great Fire of LondonStart of The Great Fire of London – 2nd September 2016

    The Great Fire of London started at the bakery of Thomas Farriner on Pudding Lane on Sunday 2nd September to Wednesday 5th September 1666. The fire destroyed 13,200 houses, 87 parish churches, St Pauls Cathedral and most of the buildings of the Cities authorities.

    The Children will be learning about fire safety, and will research into how the fire started and how it was put out.  They will also be designing 1600 style houses. The Children will also be looking at our emergency services we have available today and what they do to help us.

     

    September EVENTS_International Literacy DayInternational Literacy Day – 8th September, 2016

    International Literacy Day is celebrated each year to raise awareness of the importance of literacy, and to act as a united voice for those who cannot read or write. To discover the joys of reading the children will be creating their own imaginative props for their favourite stories to re- tell in an exciting way. The children will be making story sacks, listening to music from stories and will have the chance to write their own story.

     

    September EVENTS_Rolad Dahl's BirthdayRoald Dahl’s Birthday – 13th September, 2016

    Roald Dahl was a British novelist, short story writer, poet and screenwriter and also a fighter pilot. In the 1940’s he became one of the world’s best – selling children’s and adults author. His most famous stories include ‘James and the Giant Peach’, ‘Charlie and the Chocolate Factory’, ‘Matilda’ and the ‘BFG’. To celebrate Roald Dahl’s Birthday, we would like the children to come dressed as a Roald Dahl character. We will also be reading some of his famous stories.

     

    September EVENTS_First Day of Rosh Hashanah

    First Day of Rosh Hashanah – 14th September, 2016

    ‘Rosh Hashanah’ is the Jewish New Year which is celebrated over 2 days. The day is said to be the anniversary of the creation of Adam and Eve.

    To celebrate the Jewish New Year, the Children will be looking at the ‘shofar’ and listening to the sound of it. They will also enjoy tasting the symbolic food of apples dipped in honey to evoke a ‘Sweet New Year’.

     

    September EVENTS_Talk Like a Pirate DayTalk Like a Pirate Day – 19th September, 2016

    The Children will be taking part in the annual ‘Talk Like a Pirate Day’ to enjoy a fun adventure at nursery for the day.

    We would like the Children to come to nursery dressed as a Pirate! We will be having a treasure hunt, making pirate hats and masks and will learn how to talk like a pirate!

     

    EVENTS_National Cupcake WeekNational Cupcake Week – 19th – 25th September, 2016

    National Cupcake Week is all about baking cakes and getting together with family and friends.

    The children will be baking and decorating cakes throughout the week. We will visit our local supermarket to buy the ingredients. We would also like to invite the Parents to join their child decorate cupcakes.

     

    EVENTS_European Day of LanguagesEuropean Day of Languages – 26th September, 2016

    We will be celebrating European Day of Languages to raise awareness of the importance of different languages and how much fun you can have learning them.

    The children will be learning key words in different languages, and sharing their own languages with each other.
