Stars April Newsletter

Dear Parents and Carers of our Kingston and Worcester Park Nurseries,

Welcome to our newsletter for April 2017.

March was a month full of literature with both Shakespeare week and Dr Seuss’s birthday, not forgetting about World Book Day. The children brought in their much-loved books to share and came dressed as their favourite storybook character.

This month there are lots of different celebrations to recognise. We start April by exploring the wonders of national Read a Road Map day, and the children will be drawing their own road maps of the local area.

April is also the month of nature and health, with celebrations including World Health Day, Earth Day and National Gardening Week, which begins on 10th April. The children will be taking part in some sporting activities and will become mini-gardeners, planting a variety of seeds in our garden.

And of course, we finish the month off by celebrating the Queen’s birthday. The children will be making a special birthday card, which will be sent to Buckingham Palace!

10–16 April – National Gardening Week

We’ll be purchasing seeds, flowers and vegetables from our local shops and planting them in our garden. The children will perform some research of the different types of flowers and will get creative by designing their own colourful flowers.

    14 April - Vaisakhi

Vaisakhi.png14 April marks the harvest festival, Vaisakhi. To celebrate, the children will be incorporating gardening week and planting their own crops for harvest. We’ll also be learning the ‘Bhangra’ dance and will enjoy the colourful process of making special Vaisakhi cards.

    16 April – Easter Sunday

Easter Sunday.pngEaster returns on 16 April, and to mark the occasion the children will take part in an Easter egg hunt in our garden. We’ll be making Easter cards, decorating eggs and creating our own traditional bonnet hats.

18 April – Pet Owners' Day

Pet Owners Day.pngPet Owners Day gives the children a great opportunity to talk about their pets and share their personal animal experiences. The children will be making special gifts and sharing photographs of one another’s pets.

The children will also be making a special birthday card from Stars Day Nursery, and we will be sending this through the post to Her Majesty herself!

    22 April – Earth Day

Earth Day.png22 April is Earth Day, a celebration of the environment. The children will be exploring the natural world and will create their own play garden outside. We’ll also be collecting natural resources and making recycled instruments and props.
