Stars August newsletter

Dear Parents and Carers of our Kingston and Worcester Park Nurseries,

Welcome to our newsletter for August 2017.

Congratulations to our Pre-School Graduates of 2017!

Thank you to all of the Parents/Carers and other relatives who attended our Pre-School graduation ceremony; they performed fantastic and made us all very proud.

The time has now come for our Pre-School children to move onto their next adventure and we are going to miss them all so much!

Good luck to all of our wonderful Pre-Schoolers! You will be dearly missed and will always be welcome at Stars!

    Coming up in August

Though we will be saying goodbye to some of our friends, we’ll also be giving a big warm welcome to all the new children joining us in September.

    4 August - Louis Armstrong's birthday

To celebrate the birthday of Louis Armstrong, the children will be listening to some of his famous songs and other jazz music during circle time, while discussing how it makes them feel. The children will also be making their own musical instruments using different materials to explore different sounds. If Parents/Carers have any instruments they would like to bring in to demonstrate to the children this would be fantastic. Please let Lisa or Karina know in advance.

8 August - World Cat Day

World Cat Day brings awareness and information about how cats give both love and companionship to their owners. To celebrate the love for our pets, we would like the children to share photographs of their pet or their favourite animal. We will also be visiting our local pet shop to say hello to the local pets.

11 August - Play in the sand day

To celebrate this fun day, we would like the children to come to nursery dressed in their beach wear ready for a fun-themed day at the beach! We will be building sandcastles, playing with water, learning the hula dance and, of course, enjoying a nice cold ice cream.

13 August - International Lefthanders Day

We will be celebrating International Lefthanders Day to promote awareness of how being left-handed can be challenging in a predominantly right-handed world. We will be having a fun day called ‘Left-handed zone’ and the children will have a challenge set for the day to only use their left hand!

14 August - Independence Day for Pakistan and India

India and Pakistan Independence Day commemorates the Independence of Pakistan from Britain in 1947. Celebrations include flag hoisting, parades, singing and award ceremonies. The children will be making a large 3D flag and will be designing their own kites.
