    Teletubbies Week – 31st October – 4th November, 2016

    November Teletubbies

    The National Day Nurseries Association (NDNA) has been working with the creators of the brand new Teletubbies series, to develop free resources and courses for parents and nurseries. We will therefore be taking part in a Play and Learn with the Teletubbies activity week from 31 October to 4th November.Activities will include being active, reflecting, communicating, exploring and building friendships.

     

    Bonfire Night – 5th November, 2016

    November Bonfire Night

    Bonfire night is the annual commemoration of the arrest of Guy Fawkes and the celebration of the survival of King James I. To celebrate Bonfire Night, the children will be designing their own firework pictures using the blow painting technique with straws. We will also be making bonfire rockets, and our very own Guy Fawkes using newspaper and balloons. The Little Stars will be making sparkly fireworks using sensory materials. We will also be making safety posters on ‘How to keep Safe’ at a firework display.

     

    Remembrance Sunday – 13th November, 2016events_ki_remembrance_sunday

    Remembrance Day marks the day that World War I ended, at 11am, on the 11th day of the 11th month in 1918. Poppies are worn in remembrance as poppies grew in the battlefields after the war ended. In the week commencing 7th November, the Children will be visiting the local shops to purchase a poppy and will be designing their own with different materials. We will also encourage the Pre-School Children to take part in the National 2 minutes silence.

     

     

    BBC Children In Need – 18th November, 2016events_ki_bbc_children_in_needs

    To celebrate and raise money for Children In Need 2016 we will be having a ‘Pyjama Day’ theme. We would like all children and team to come to nursery dressed in their Pyjama’s with their favourite teddy and bring a £1.00 donation for the charity. During the week of the 14th November, we will be making Pudsey Bear arts and crafts and will be making biscuits and cakes to sell at a cake sale on Friday 18th November. The cakes and biscuits will be available to buy on Friday afternoon.

     

    Road Safety Week – 21st – 27th November, 2016events_ki__road_safty_week

    ‘Road Safety Week’ is the UK's biggest road safety event, involving thousands of schools, organisations and community groups every year. Set up in 1997, the event is coordinated annually by Brake each November, and aims to encourage grassroots action on road safety and raise awareness about the part we can all play in preventing tragedies and making roads safer.

    The Children will be learning the Highway Code and about the importance of Road Safety. The Pre-School Children will be visiting the local area to practice road safety. We will be looking at traffic light systems, zebra crossings and other safety road signs.

     

     

    Thanksgiving – 24th November, 2016     events_ki_happy_thanksgiving

    Thanks’ Giving is celebrated on the fourth Thursday in November each year by many people in the United States. This commemorates the first Thanksgiving feast in 1621. The children will be making Thanksgiving cards and turkey arts and crafts!

     

    St. Andrew’s Day – 30th November, 2016events_ki_standrews_day

    St Andrews Day is the national Day in Scotland. Celebrations will take place over the weekend and all commemorating the origins of our shared history. Town and gown will come together in one display of celebration, bringing music, dance, books, food and drink, history, golf and much more to the Centre of St Andrews.
